Consolation Cup Dropped
Directors of the Celtic and Rangers now hold the leading official posts in the Scottish Football Association. At the annual meeting held in Glasgow last night Mr T White (Celtic) was elected President and Mr W. B. Craig (Rangers) Vice-President. Mr T. Stein (Ayr) and Mr J. K. M’Dowall were re-elected Treasurer and Secretary respectively.
Consolation Cup Competition Abolished
Mr Phillips (Aberdeen) moved an alteration of rules recommended by the Council, which, he said meant the abolition of the Consolation Cup. All those, he continued, who were connected with provincial clubs knew that in winning the Consolation Cup they suffered risks and loss instead of receiving any reward. They had had before the Council appeals from clubs for assistance, rendered necessary because they had to take part in the Consolation Cup competition. Owing to the increased railway fares and other increased costs generally, to continue the competition meant bankruptcy to a number of clubs.
Mr P. Hodge (Raith Rovers) seconded.
Mr Christie, in moving the previous question, argued that it was only in the earlier stages that clubs lost money. When a club won a position as the competition proceeded interest increased, and money came in. Money was now far more plentiful among the working men than in 1914, and it was a fact that every club that had been playing since the New Year had made money. It would do no great harm to let the competition go on for another year.
The delegate of Dumbarton Harp seconded.
On a show of hands, the motion was carried by 19 votes against 10 for the previous question.
Resumption of Scottish Cup Competition
A recommendation that the Scottish Cup competition be resumed in season 1919-20 was next submitted, the President remarking that he did not think there would be any objection to that. (Applause) The recommendation was unanimously adopted.
Another resolution was adopted that all the clubs which qualified for the Scottish Cup competition in the season 1914-15 should be included in season 1919-20, irrespective of their position in the Qualifying Cup that season.

Clydebank and Albion Rovers To Play in Qualifying Cup Ties
A meeting of the Council of the Scottish Football Association was held last night in the Rooms, Carlton Place, Glasgow – Mr T. White, president, in the chair.
All the clubs in the First League, with the exception of Clydebank and Albion Rovers, were exempted from the Qualifying Cup competition. It was explained that the admission of the two last-named clubs to the League came too late to permit of the rules of the competition being altered for next season.
The groupings of districts for the competition was deferred till August in view of the additional clubs which were joining up.

Draw for Scottish Cup
This season’s draw for the Scottish Cup is of a remarkable character in respect that, whereas hitherto only 32 clubs took part in the first ballot – 16 from the First League and 16 qualifiers – this year 50 clubs go into the hat, made up of 20 clubs from the First Division, the last 20 clubs in the Qualifying Cup competition, and 10 clubs who qualified for the Scottish Cup in season 1914 but have not done so this season, the idea being that the clubs who ought to have competed in 1914, but who were unable to do so owing to the war, should have the opportunity of making good.
It may be stated that Dumfries also qualified in 1914, but they now appear as Queen of the South, they and Maxwelltown Volunteers having amalgamated.
Clydebank, it will be noted, do not appear on the list, as they were ousted from the Qualifying Cup competition by Royal Albert.
